Reykjavík Arts Festival is a non-profit arts institution which main purpose is to organize an annual arts festival. It is led by an artistic director appointed by the festival board of directors, whose three members, in turn, are appointed by the Minister of Culture, the Mayor of Reykjavík and the Council of Representatives. The Festival is financed by the government and city council, box office income and private sponsors. It is presided over by the Minister of Culture and the Mayor of Reykjavík on a rotating basis.
